Stony Brook Saves on Cancer-fighting Technology through DASNY
Project: SUNY University Hospital Health Center at Stony Brook
DASNY’s Role: The hospital closed an $18.5 million lease for leading-edge cancer care technology and other equipment utilizing DASNY’s Tax-Exempt Equipment Leasing Program (“TELP”).
Details: SUNY University Hospital Health Center at Stony Brook needed vital medical equipment for its new 10-level, 225,000-square-foot, 150-Bed Tower and its new eight-level, 240,000-square-foot Medicine and Research Translation (MART) Building. It was able to do so with an $18.5 million tax-exempt lease utilizing DASNY’s TELP program.
The medical equipment for the new Bed Tower / MART financed through DASNY assisted imaging, neurosciences, cancer care and cancer research, and will enable scientists and physicians to work side-by-side to advance cancer research and imaging diagnostics.
Impact: DASNY’s Tax-Exempt Equipment Leasing Program (TELP) helps health care facilities, higher education institutions and certain other eligible not-for-profit institutions finance state-of-the-art equipment and lower the cost of borrowing through tax-exempt financing.
